December 2020 ER Message

Happy Holidays! Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. As of this writing the lodge will remain open 2-8pm each day; with an earlier 12pm start on Sundays. In anticipation of more stringent social distancing rules from the Governor, we are immediately asking that only members and their spouses or pending members visit the lodge on Fridays or Sundays until further notice. The lodge has become very popular on these days with the Friday night dinners and Sunday’s NFL football serving chicken wings and little hot dogs from 2-4pm in house or served to go. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause; but under the current restrictions we must take these measures to protect our members. The health and safety of our members is of paramount importance at this time.

On a much lighter note, I am happy to note that your Lodge made the State website for our Trunk and Treat event! Please visit https:// www.nyselks.org/ and click on the “NY Elks in Action” link on the left of the page. Special thanks to Loyal Knight Greg Collins for making this happen and his continual work behind the scenes in securing grant money to support Lodge charitable causes.

On Monday, November 23rd we had the 15 new members slated for initiation into our Lodge, bringing the total for this year up to potentially 23 new members. I envision monthly initiations as needed to keep up with the renewed interest in joining a safe atmosphere to socialize. If you know of anyone interested in joining our Lodge please have them stop by for a tour of the Lodge, learn about some of our activities and charitable causes and hopefully apply for membership.

The final drawings for the 30th Annual 20-week club were held on November 21st. Thanks to all who purchased tickets; unfortunately due to covid we could not have the auction and dinner we have come to enjoy. Hopefully at this time next year things will relax and we can schedule an auction and dinner. Quick note: although we are not having an auction we did receive a beautiful quilt courtesy of Northeast Quilters that we are raffling off in time for Christmas. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the bar. All proceeds will be directed to a local charity to be named later.

God bless and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the best of health to you and yours,

Fraternally, ER Brian
